After you ve installed a microphone and have run the Audio Tuning Wizard, you re ready to talk online. This is easy to do: .If you re already having a conversation with someone in theConversation window and want to switch to voice, click Start Talkingin the Conversation window. .If you re not already in a typing conversation with someone, openWindows Messenger normally. Then right-click the name of the Onlinecontact you want to talk to and choose Start a voice conversation. The contact will receive a message that you re ready to talk and willreply if ready. The recipient will get a text message that shows your name followed by . . . would like to have a voice conversation with you. Do you want to Accept (Alt+T) or Decline (Alt+D) the invitation?You ll then get some feedback as to whetherthe recipient accepted or declined. Assuming the person accepted, you canjust start talking. To adjust the volume of the other person s voice, drag the Speakers slider leftor right under the Stop Talking heading (see Figure 12-9). If the other personhas trouble hearing you, try increasing the volume of your microphone byusing the Microphone volume control slider. (That person could, however, turnup his or her speakers.)
