Figure 19-16:Moved files have disappeared; they re in the Sarah Brightman folder. Moving and Copying by DraggingWhen you can t see both the source folders and destination folders at the sametime, you can just open both folders. Then select and drag files from one folderto the other. I think this is best illustrated by an example. So we ll work throughthe steps involved by using an example of moving or copying files from the MyPictures folder to the Shared Pictures folder. An easy way to do this is by right- dragging the items to the destination folder (where right-draggingmeans holdingdown the right mouse button, rather than the usual left mouse button, whilemoving the mouse). Here are the steps: STEPS:Move or Copy Folders by Dragging1.Open My Documents; then navigate to the destination folder. 2.Open My Documents again; then navigate to the source folder. 3.Size and position the two open windows so you can see the mainpane of each one. For example, in Figure 19-17, My Pictures willbethe source folder (upper left), and Shared Pictures will be the destination folder (lower right). 4.If you want to move or copy multiple items from the source to thedestination, select the items using any technique described earlierinthis chapter. 5.Point to the item you want to move (or any selected item) and holddown the right (secondary) mouse button. Moved files are no longer in the open folder. They’re in the destination foldernow. Open (double-click) the destination folder to see its contents.
