Figure 19-13:Restoring an accidentally deleted file from the Recycle BinGiving Files and Folders the AxeWhen you feel confident that the Recycle Bin contains only folders and filesthat you ll never need again, for the rest of your life, empty the Recycle Bin. Toempty the Recycle Bin: .Click Empty the Recycle Bin under Recycle Bin Tasks in theExplorerbar. .Or choose File.Empty Recycle Bin from Recycle Bin s menu bar. Everything within the Recycle Bin will disappear and head up to softwareheaven, from which there is no return. The disk space that was consumedbythose files will be recovered, making room for new files. Never use the Recycle Bin as temporary storage for a file or folder you don tplan to delete. That would be like storing important paper documents trash can. Just too darn risky! When you ve finished with the Recycle Bin, you can close it as you would anyother window by clicking the Close (X) button in its upper-right corner. Andthat about covers it for deleting files. If there s one point that I must stress onemore time, it s that you never want to delete a file just because you don t knowwhat it is. The only time you want to delete a file is when you know exactlywhat it is and are 100 percent sure you ll never need the file again. You can also delete a file by dragging its icon and dropping it right onto theRecycle Bin s icon. And you can empty the Recycle Bin without opening Just right-click its icon and choose Empty Recycle Bin. (Yes, those are twotips, although the second one is dangerous if you don t know what s in theRecycle Bin!)
